Born in Bombay on September 23, 1952, Anshuman Gaekwad is a former Indian cricket player and coach who is renowned for his reliable defensive batting approach. From 1974 to 1985, he represented India in 40 Test matches and 15 One-Day Internationals.

Gaekwad coached the Indian national team from 1997 to 1999 after retiring. Throughout his tenure, he oversaw both significant successes and setbacks, such as safety issues during the 1999 World Cup. Gaekwad’s contributions to Indian cricket, both on and off the field, continue to garner him respect.
