Premier League game between Chelsea and Manchester City, 0–2

Manchester City defeated Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge in today’s Premier League match. City, who have been playing well this season, dominated possession and produced multiple significant opportunities during the match.

Sunday marked Erling Haaland’s 100th appearance for Manchester City, and he scored his 91st goal as the champions defeated Chelsea 2-0 on the road to begin their Premier League championship defense.

In the eighteenth minute, the huge Norwegian, fed by Bernardo Silva, finished beautifully past Robert Sanchez by forcing his way past Marc Cucurella and Wesley Fofana. Six minutes from time, former Chelsea player Mateo Kovacic secured the win for the visitors by breaking through a disjointed Chelsea midfield and smashing the ball into Sanchez’s net.

Chelsea made a last-ditch effort to rally, but Manchester City’s defense held strong to seal the victory and increase their lead atop the Premier League standings. Chelsea is now in a challenging situation as a result of this loss; in order to move up the standings, they must recover and start playing consistently. In their debut Premier League game under new manager Enzo Maresca, Chelsea attempted some promising attacking plays with Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson, and new addition Pedro Neto, but their more composed opponents were far superior.
